What is the Resilient Action Plan?
The Resilient Action Plan is Fairfield’s community-built roadmap— developed over three years by 35+ volunteers—that outlines priority projects in food systems, housing, land stewardship, waste reduction, economic vitality, and coordinated communications. It is a living document, designed to evolve as projects advance and community needs change.
What challenges is FRAN trying to address?
FRAN focuses on the interconnected issues identified through three years of volunteer research and planning:

- Local food system gaps and farm viability
- Waste reduction and wastewater system resilience
- Fragmented community communication and volunteer networks

Fairfield is entering a critical implementation phase, and we must not lose momentum: with early projects already underway, FRAN is closing a funding gap needed to launch Phase 2 and sustain the volunteer-driven work already in motion.

How will my donation be used?
Your donation directly funds the implementation of Fairfield’s Resilient Action Plan—supporting volunteer-led projects, community education, matching funds for grants, and essential coordination across our six subcommittees. It also helps sustain the Sustainability Coordinator role, which provides the backbone support needed to move projects from ideas into action.
Why does FRAN need fundraising?
FRAN is a new nonprofit entering a critical implementation phase. Fundraising fills the immediate gap needed to launch early projects, maintain project coordination, and meet matching requirements for state and federal grants. Community support ensures that the momentum built over three years of volunteer effort can continue without interruption.
How close is FRAN to its $50,000 launch goal?
We are currently 41% of the way to our $50,000 goal, with $29,500 left to raise. Every gift brings us closer to fully launching Phase 2 implementation—and helps ensure Fairfield continues moving toward a more resilient, thriving future.
Is my donation tax-deductible, and can I give to a specific project?
Yes. FRAN has been incorporated as an Iowa public-benefit nonprofit and has receive Federal 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status. Your donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.
Launch Fund donations are not currently project specific. They support the essential startup capacity FRAN needs to implement the Resilient Action Plan and sustain early projects across all six subcommittees.
