Land Use
The Land Use subcommittee supports Fairfield and Jefferson County by helping communities better understand land-use challenges, opportunities, and long-term implications. As a nonprofit, this group does not create or adopt policy; instead, it serves as a research, coordination, and community-engagement resource that can assist local governments, boards, and residents in exploring options and informing decision-making.
Current efforts focus on organizing information, conducting research, and facilitating community input related to land use, planning, and development. This work helps municipalities, staff, and advisory bodies access clearer data, shared perspectives, and practical examples that can support thoughtful, locally led land-use decisions over time.

Forward-Thinking Policy and Planning
This focus area supports municipalities by researching land-use policies, planning tools, and review frameworks used in peer communities. Early efforts emphasize organizing information, documenting best practices, and facilitating workshops or conversations, when invited, that help clarify how land-use decisions can reflect long-term environmental, social, economic, and sustainability considerations.

Undeveloped & Underutilized Spaces
This focus area helps communities better understand the location, characteristics, and potential of undeveloped and underutilized land. Work in this area emphasizes inventories, mapping, and community input to surface options for infill development, conservation, green space, or stewardship, providing municipalities with neutral, well-documented information to support future planning discussions.
