What is FRAN?
The Fairfield Resilient Action Network (FRAN) is a community-driven nonprofit that coordinates, funds, and supports projects that strengthen Fairfield’s economic opportunity, social well-being, and environmental health through collaboration across six volunteer subcommittees.
What is the Resilient Action Plan?
The Resilient Action Plan is Fairfield’s community-built roadmap— developed over three years by 35+ volunteers—that outlines priority projects in food systems, housing, land stewardship, waste reduction, economic vitality, and coordinated communications. It is a living document, designed to evolve as projects advance and community needs change.
What challenges is FRAN trying to address?
FRAN focuses on the interconnected issues identified through three years of volunteer research and planning:
- Housing quality and energy efficiency
- Urban water quality and land stewardship
- Local food system gaps and farm viability
- Waste reduction and wastewater system resilience
- Fragmented community communication and volunteer networks
- Underutilized land and outdated policy tools
These challenges affect daily life in Fairfield, and FRAN exists to bring partners together to solve them in practical, community-centered ways.
Why now?
Fairfield is entering a critical implementation phase, and we must not lose momentum: with early projects already underway, FRAN is closing a funding gap needed to launch Phase 2 and sustain the volunteer-driven work already in motion.
